Peace of Mind: Journey into Introspection 🇮🇳
We have arrived.
After arriving in Ahmedabad airport and being picked up by the Brahmin family, we enjoyed a very peaceful stay in their center before heading up the mountain to Mount Abu. The hospitality and the service that they provide does not cease to amaze us. It was a 4.5 hours taxi ride and we shared it with two wonderful Australian fellows, father and son, who were traveling the world documenting their adventure. Every single moment has an opportunity for service, don’t waste it!
Over 250 people from literally all over the world had made their way here. Coming up the mountains you feel this huge pull to come home. This is your home. Paying attention to the present moment is our greatest goal here. If there is one place in the world where you can practice this, it is HERE. That means that whatever is happening in the moments, our thoughts are engaged in only that one task; therefore no other desires, wishes, or distracting thoughts will conquer us. How do you maintain your constant awareness connected to your intention so your thoughts, words, and actions are harmonious?
PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!
It feels like we have been following the wrong directions, the wrong customs. At the present moment you can sense that the knowledge that we learn here within the Peace of Mind retreat, and within all the Brahma Kumaris centers over the world, is so real, practical, and extremely natural. You deeply learn and experience the benefits of Raja Yoga Meditation, enjoying the sweetness of introspection, as well as the greater connection to everyone and everything.
Throughout the retreat, we enjoyed nature morning walks among the jungle on top of the mountain guided by a professional musician, stretches, tapping therapy exercises, along with very powerful guided meditations. We also had classes on different topics from learning who we really are, the difference between being soul conscious and body conscious, the spiritual powers of the soul, a deeper understanding on the laws of karma, and how to integrate meditation in your life. We also had very interesting introductions to how their Solar Power Plant works, the impact of the Global Hospital created by the BK, and small group interactions with great spiritual leaders and mixed souls from all over the world.
On top of the mountain you also have a lot of time to yourself, quality silence to reflect on the little things that are deep and simple. Think before you speak, don’t think what you don’t want to say, go back to your original state of peace and from there act on the world. Through meditation we learn to let go, we have the answers to all the questions we have been searching for, tolerance and cooperation are extremely necessary, the more you practice the more you understand and the more you can share with others. We could go on and on because this experience was extremely unique. It is interesting as you start fully letting go and putting yourself in hands of the higher energy and the universe, life unfolds what it has prepared for you.
The day that we had the class on the Law of Karma was a curious one, for both of us. Everything has to happen exactly how it has to happen, and we all play our specific part. Do we act according to our consciousness or do sometimes ego take control? Time to do self-inventory is required! How do we operate? In order to please others or with a selfless and positive intention? We can control our actions but not all the consequences.
After lunch we were planning on doing a nice hike around the area, but Masé starting having a terrible stomach pain and quite a fever. We went down to the campus doctor’s office and they prescribed her a few pills. A couple of hours later, her pain and the visits to the bathroom were getting worse. We went down to the office again, and after spending 3 hours there with no improvement, they recommended that we go to the Global Hospital to be admitted for the night. We decided this would be for the best, no need to risk anything particularly this early on in our trip!
We took the trip from the Peace of Mind retreat to the Global Hospital, just ten minutes down the road. What an incredible facility and what impressive service they do there. Lots of volunteers from all over the world have contributed and collaborated to educate and train locals, shifting their life 360 degrees to being able to earn a living and help their families. They have every single field of traditional medicine, as well as Ayurveda, and other type of Holistic alternative healing.
We ended up spending 4 nights there and what a life lesson. When you have all these plans, when you want to experience and do all these things, life says: well my dear you have got to take a rest. The experience there was very special. Our roommate was a spiritual teacher and we formed a very nice friendship over the course of our time in the hospital. Some challenging moments for sure, extreme physical pain, impotence of not knowing or completely understanding what’s going on due to language barrier, three medical staff trying to find your vein to inject the IV and after FIVE ATTEMPTS, in different locations within hours, finally getting it, etc. Each moment was a blessing and we became so close to all the staff members that it felt like a family. Had we not been there, we wouldn’t have met the amazing souls we met. The food there, the attention, the meditation rooms, everything formed a part of the experience. It only makes sense that it had to happen there and so early on the trip.
For all of this we feel extremely thankful!
Right after being discharged we hopped in the taxi to head down the mountain starting the long trip to Nepal. That was a little bit of a struggle, but thanks to the amazing Spanish family we met in the retreat, it was a piece of cake!
When your intuition awakens, you find the spiritual truths.
Om Shanti
